We visited this location 2 weeks ago in early-December while visiting relatives in Olympia, WA. It was our first time there and a good experience as it was very windy & rainy outdoors. If you're looking for a higher-end market ... this was definitely the place. So many selections and a major deli. What was even more appealing was an outdoor dining deck (perfect for spring or summer) right along the waterfront, as well as a 2nd floor dining area (which overlooked the entire deli and produce section, as well a...

Have always visited their store in Victoria, B.C. when visiting family. We went on Monday of this past week when running errands on foot & checking out various stores and grabbing a bite to eat before a walk along the ocean. Always a busy store and very well-staffed. Plenty of good selections and higher-end items, so definitely know your prices going in. We picked up a few jackets and pullovers as gifts, as well as a deluxe backpack. Very happy with our purchases & nice to have friendly, knowledgeable staffi...

We have visited this location in Burnaby, B.C. 2 - 3 times in the past 5 years. Always a good experience as the environment's pretty friendly, food comes promptly & most importantly is pretty tasty. The last time we came was for a sporting event with friends. This time we came the evening of Friday, December 18th to catch the deals with the earlier Happy Hour deals. We arrived just after 5pm and stayed for an hour. From the menu selections we opted for the Baja Prawn Tacos (there were 3 of them), Sticky Garl...

We had a chance to catch the matinee on Friday, December 11th at Vancouver's 5th Avenue Cinemas. There were 3 of us, and we had discounted tickets for 2 of them, and the 3rd was free via the Scene program. We enjoyed it on the whole, as we've followed the 007 movies over the years. Daniel Craig has always been a good watch as Bond, given the fact that he can pull off the action sequences quite well. Christoph Waltz was good in his role, as was Dave Bautista (great fight scenes & action sequences given hi...

We really enjoyed this movie after having checked it out on Telus - On Demand just over a week ago. The film stars Paul Dano, John Cusack, Elizabeth Banks, and Paul Giamatti amongst others. Dano plays the younger version of Brian Wilson, and Cusack the older version about 20 or so years down the line. The focus of the film is on relationships, the music (in and around the time of the Pet Sounds album - a personal fave of mine), and Wilson's mental health in his younger years. Very well-acted & would definite...

Good little show that has begun airing this year on the Slice network. It's based off of the British reality series which aired on Channel 4, and this version is filmed in Vancouver . Interesting to see the exchanges, body language, and conversation amongst the people in the restaurant. Episodes are 30 minutes in length, so just over 20 mins when you skim them over and skip all ads. Here are some links for Savers who may be interested in checking it out ...     Slice - 'About First Dates' ...

Very much enjoyed this movie on dvd. Good mixture of casting with the 3 main leads being relatively unknown to most of us as viewers, with a good supporting cast of adults (most notably real-life married couple Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally). Many Savers will recognize Offerman and Mullally via their tv roles on series like Parks & Recreation, Will and Grace, and more. That said ... the film is a good coming-of-age tale. Adolescent rebellion and exploration ... and great visually as plenty of the scenes are s...

We very much enjoyed this movie in recent months. Another excellent performance from Jake G' ... and great to see him picking better roles in recent years to show off his acting chops (Enemy, Prisoners, End of Watch, Source Code). Definitely recommend him in all of those additional projects listed. Very good direction in this one from Dan Gilroy as well ... solid fellow casting with Ahmed, Russo, Paxton, and company to boot, Savers. A strong 8 - 8.5/10, we felt. Check out the list of the movie's nominations ...

We had a chance to check out this movie (from just over 20 years ago) on dvd in early-2015. A funny one for sure, it starred Denis Leary, Kevin Spacey, Christine Baranski & more earlier in their careers. For people who have recognized other projects from Leary (such as the Rescue Me series earlier in the 2000s) you'll see some additional familiar faces in smaller roles too. It's to the point at an hour and a half, and doesn't tend to lag much. Funniest scene was the holiday dinner table meal in the f...

Had a chance to check out Whiplash in recent months, and definitely recommend it. Good to see Miles Teller still doing his thing (easily one of the better younger actors in recent years. If you want to see another of his better roles ... check out The Spectacular Now. Good little flick there too) and J.K. Simmons was stellar in his role & well-deserving of his recent Golden Globe & Oscar wins. Good intensity showcased by both co-leads throughout the flick. What helps the film is that it doesn't drag much...

A very fun movie experience on the whole. We had a chance to check it out recently on Netflix, and had meant to eventually get around to it since it was released back in 2012. Great direction per norm from Wes Anderson, and he was helped along by a stellar cast including the likes of Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Jason Schwartzman, and more. Both younger actors were good in their own right too, and held their own alongside the powerhouse cast of names mentioned in the li...

We had a chance to check this documentary out via the Netflix platform last weekend. I'd heard of the doc' in recent years per friends' reviews, as well as reading critics' ones online & in newspapers, etc. The doc' runs just over an hour and a half in length, and was released in 2011. Throughout it gives you plenty of documentation towards the health benefits we'd all experience if we modified our diet from that which most North Americans have tended to follow over time (i.e. - plenty of...

Quite the intense movie ... we had a chance to check it out recently, and it held our interest throughout given the intensity & seriousness of the subject matter. Very strong cast as well including the likes of Brad Pitt (good role choices the past decade plus), Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Michael Pena (American Hustle, End of Watch, etc), Shia LaBeouf (Lawless, Transformers, The Company You Keep), Brad Henke (The Frozen Ground, Pacific Rim), Xavier Samuel, Jon Bernthal (The Wolf of Wall Stre...

Visited one of their Washington locations earlier in the month of Dec' 2014. We had a late breakfast / early brunch and enjoyed the experience. The restaurant was modestly busy at the time (around 11am or thereafter) and the staffing were all pleasant with customers/diners. Food was pretty tasty too. They offer menu items, as well as their Sunday brunch (at 17.99) so we settled for the latter just to try out a bunch of stuff. The following links lead you to their site & said brunch buffet choices which run ...

Enjoyed this movie after seeing it in recent months. Good to see both the film (2014) and book (2012) were both well-received by many fans and critics alike. The film centres around two young people who meet at a cancer patients' support group and the journey they take together when building their relationship. A nice, believable chemistry between the co-leads Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, and the film also co-stars Laura Dern, Willem Dafoe, and more.
