Tasty sandwich. Had printed off a coupon for us online (good through January 31st, 2014 - nice to have the wide expiration window) for a B1G1 free offer on various subs from a restaurant/dining section off the Yellow Pages' site when you buy 2 beverages. Picked up 2 of these and 2 mid-sized beverages and enjoyed the sammies. Made sure to load them up with veggies (as with any visit to a Quizno's or Subway) to get more bang for the buck. All in for 2 large subs and 2 bevs came to around $11 or so. I'd rec...

This is an enjoyable newer series. Happened across it earlier this fall, and it airs on the Esquire network in the U.S. - check your local listings in Canada as it may also air on there here if you have the network as part of your digital bundle. If memory serves correctly it airs on the DTour network (via Telus). Quite enjoyable as it picks a notable actor/comic and travels with them on a "getaway" to a destination (or place they're familiar with) of their choice. The episodes I've seen have inclu...

We visited the Hop Jack's location in the Lacey region of Olympia, WA earlier this past week. We had a party of 5 for a weeknight meal, and enjoyed our experience. 3 in the group had been there before, so it was good to take their word for it. If you're familiar with places like Chili's, TGIFriday, Cactus Club, Red Robin & others (aka - pub and casual dining food) ... you'd probably enjoy the food & beverage offerings here too. We stayed for a couple of hours to visit and dine ... and the pla...

We attended the advance screening of Inside Llewyn Davis on Thursday, December 12th, 2013 in Vancouver after having won passes. Good turnout at the show, and it's always a pleasure to visit Fifth Avenue Cinemas in Vancouver at 5th & Burrard as it's a small venue with a limited number of screens ... a nice area with plenty of restaurants & shops nearby, plus they have a good movie fan crowd attending most shows.   The movie itself was good and we scored it a strong 7 - 7.5 / 10 (crowd response ...

They're a well-run operation @ this No Frills location. Always very busy as they're in a mini mall with plenty of residential housing in the area ... plenty of deals, next-door to a Shoppers Drug Mart, across from a Subway, etc. We've visited them a few times in the past 2 years ... and the service is always good there as they help you when you're stuck or looking for products that may haven't been stocked yet (or they're fresh out of). We'd asked about the pasta, and the guy went to the ...

Very nice, affordable restaurant. We've been to the Burnaby and Vancouver locations a handful of times with friends and family over the past number of years. Very good lunch and dinner specials, and respectable portion sizes too. We visited the East Vancouver location earlier in the week to treat a family member to lunch on their 82nd birthday. All of our food was tasty ... service was good (acknowledging the person celebrating the birthday and asking them how they were doing & feeling as they aren't in ...

They've got a nice community store at this location in the Tri-Cities region of the GVRD. Always pleasant staff there ... nice lighting (not too bright) ... clean floors ... nice store layout and design (it's small, but the space is used effectively). Plenty of deals in the flyers ... and even though they can be busy at times, it never feels rushed or crowded compared to some other stores which are larger. I'd recommend them for people who live in and around the Coquitlam and Port Moody regions, and for ...

They run a very good business @ ABC Main Auto Tireland in Vancouver, Savers. We've been going there for years (formerly Tireland) as my dad knows the owner, and has always received good service. They do good work ... don't mess around with pricing, and offer little perks to customers like free flat repairs (once annually) and other similar services. Dad got his alignment & front tire checked over recently. They repaired a flat on my vehicle earlier in the year, and also installed a rim for the front righ...

Won free tickets to the Dixie Chicks' concert @ Rogers Arena for Saturday, October 26th, 2013 via CTV. Picked up the passes in September and we attended last night. A 3rd party joined us as they had purchased their own ticket this past week & looked to attend to. Crowd turnout was strong. Many devoted fans in attendance and they played from approximately 9 - 11pm (many of their hit songs - most in chronological order) over the course of the evening. The opening act was Charlie Mars ... a country artist from ...

We visited their location in downtown Vancouver last night after 6:30pm (Saturday evening). Dinner party of 3 and we enjoyed our meal, with the other guests having eaten there before. Restaurant was about 60% full at the time ... very polite, courteous staff (engaging with customers & well-run). We had the calamari, moo ping, and spring rolls for appetizers, followed by the green curry (chicken), pad thai, and pad ladna for main courses. We were also able to share portions of our meals with one another to try ou...

Very popular series which has been running for 3 seasons so far, with the 4th premiering this coming Sunday (October 13th, 2013) on the AMC network. If you're a fan of the genre (zombie apocalypse, etc) ... do yourself a favour and check the show out. The make-up and effects department do one superb job with all the "walkers", etc. Funnily enough ... the series Breaking Bad (also an AMC network favourite)  even used some of their help (make-up / effects) with some key looks they needed for their s...

As many have probably seen and heard in recent years ... definitely one of the best all-time series in television history. Viewership via word-of-mouth grew year after year ... the series was expertly acted ... the plot/story was intriguing ... there were plenty of cliffhangers, villains, moments of extreme tension & emotion, etc. "Growth ... decay ... transformation" ... the story of a mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer as he meets his early-50s, and...

A friend recently won ROE (run-of-engagement) passes for Gravity (3D) and we checked it out this week and enjoyed it. Definitely a movie for the big screen, as many of the reviewers/critics have pointed out in recent weeks. The big screen and 3D feel definitely do the film justice. Credit to Sandra Bullock and George Clooney ... as the film is basically all them. Sandra as the star, and George as the co-star. It's especially impressive visually when you consider all the camera work, green screen usage, CGI &...

Won passes to the advance screening of Machete Kills for Thursday, October 10th in Vancouver. We enjoyed the screening, as did the others, and had seen the 1st film on dvd in recent years. Strong viewer turnout as there were a good 100+ people in line by 6:15pm onward @ Scotiabank Theatre. The film has plenty of eye-catching casting ... the likes of Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Alexa Vega, Lady Gaga, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara, and more. If you're into action, explosions, scantily-clad visuals, ...

Won movie passes to the advance screening of Don Jon on Wednesday, September 25th @ Vancouver's Scotiabank Theatre on Burrard St. Thank you Tim, Saveland, Movieland, Remstar Films & Touchwood PR. We enjoyed the event, and there was a good crowd turnout as the venue is located in an accessible part of Vancouver, and holds 9 screens within. The film centres around the lead characters in Scarlett J. and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and how their relationship plays out with one being addicted to romantic films, with th...
