Breadmakers
My old Black and Decker model died this fall, so I got a Cuisinart, thinking it would be better. It's not. Go with the cheaper B&D!

I've had a B&D for two years now and I just recommended it to a friend.

I would eat too much bread if I had the aroma of fresh bread wafting thru the house.

Can you make whole wheat or whole grain bread in the B&D?

After doing some research on Amazon.com I decided to buy a sunbeam for $50 or
$70. It is apparently the same as the  B2200 B&D and a Hamilton beach model. .
This model may be out of production.
It wasn't bad but I found the white bread lacked flavour the brown bread with raisins better.
I later bought the Betty Crocker Recipe book and give it the same rating.
I use the American sites for reviews because their is a greater sample thus hopefully more
accurate. I am sure there are false paid posters but often their are great tips.
This is what I bought. links below

Bread is my weakness, and if I started using mine again, it would be disasterous on the old hips!!!!

My downfall is white bread, homemade bread, sourdough bread, buns and of course any donuts, so I guess I will strike the breadmaker from my list.

still on the "fence" about taking the breadmaker leap of faith. My mother-in-law swears by hers and keeps us so well supplied I don't need to really buy one!

I have been making a lot of break this winter. Lots of hand-made, but it's nice to have the machine. I can set it up at night, and wake up to the amazing smell of fresh bread.

I bought a Toastmaster for myself on Mothers day back in 2001 (? guessing) and iy was only $79.00 ( from Zellers)
I used to make the single loaf in the machine from start to finish but then I found the shape of the loaf not to my liking. ( Takes 3 hrs from start to finish ) Now I only use the bread machine to make 2 recipes of dough ( takes 1 hour ) Then I shape up 2 loaves from that dough , let them rise maybe 30 min, and bake for 30 min. Perfect every time and I do not buy bread flour, just all purpose. This was an old thread I see but it caught my eye.

Thanks Donna,no matter what is invented one seems to have to incorporate into it some of the old fashion ways.

I'm lucky enough to live with someone who makes fresh bread all the time! It definitely looks and smells great. Worth the counter space!
