I've been entering and winning contests since Sept 1976, but this past month has been the winningest month for me in 35 years.
Although I'm not a big fan of Twitter, and I'm only just getting comfortable with Facebook, 17 of my 19 contest wins this month originated from those two arenas. I've only been on Twitter for, what, about a month, and I find it annoying at best, but it is certainly the quickest way to win a contest, though it means "following" a fairly large number of people/companies, and you have to slog through a lot of "junk" to get to the contest RT (retweets) links.
Though I have been dreaming of winning an iPad2 for over a year, I did end up winning a Toshiba Thrive Tablet, which in retrospect (at least according to Consumer Reports) is a much better device. Only a Samsung Galaxy would have made me happier. I also won a pair of top-of-the-line Sennheiser wireless headphones, something else I have wanted forEVER, because I'm something of a night-owl, and my tv, computer and music players bother those sleeping in my household. The rest of the prizes were clothing, jewellery and a big variety of gift cards; perfect as Xmas gifts, because I had virtually NO money for Xmas gifts this year (what litte we had we pooled together and donated to the Red Cross Attiwapiskat campaign, in the name of Timmins MP, Charlie Angus).
Interestingly, the day after we donated our Xmas money to the Red Cross, the contest wins started coming in, one, two, three a day. Maybe there's something to this whole "paying it forward" credo.........
Wins this month totalled just shy of $1,800 in value.....a blessing, for one such as me, who has been looking for full time work for over a year now...
