I think they are still available--I'll do some sleuthing. On the other hand, I've used a mason jar.

rosebuddy- wow you made yogurt using a mason jar. Sounds hard to do.
There was a yogurt maker on the leitesculinera contest site. It is over now. I was not contacted I won so I guess I did not

Fluffy, the "mason" jar technique is based on the same principle as the yogurt maker I once had. I'd have to consult the notes I made at the time, but when I made it with a yogurt maker, I always started with warmed milk (to a very particular temperature), let it cool and then added the "starter"--which was a spoon of "active" yogurt. Then the mason jars (sterilized) were kept warm until the yogurt had set, then refrigerated.

I used to own a yogurt maker ,six small cups w/ lids. I bought it at the thrift shop and re donated it after the novelty wore off ( about 4 months) It was quick and easy I do remember.

I think I had the same one as you, silvertoes--I lent it to a friend with kids who ate a lot of yogurt and ended up giving it to her. Never did replace it. The one thing I didn't like about it though was that in my case anyway the containers were glass-like and I was always afraid I'd knock one over in the fridge and break it (the six of them all together took up a fair bit of space, so I had to be careful moving things around in the fridge.

No interest in this. I don't eat enough & don't spend enough to be so anal.
