My one recipe calls for shredded carrots, onions, ketchup, fine bread crumbs, along with the lean ground beef,. I lost my recipe that had mashed potatoes in the meat loaf.
How do you make yours?

I use crushed crackers 1 egg onion. Then when almost cooked I top it with a can of Mushroom soup with milk makes a yummy gravy and have it with mashed potatoes and a veggie a great winter supper.
I have also added for a topping mixing maple syrup and ketchup together this is also a yummy topping the maple syrup gives it a good kick. So enjoy

bassett- that maple syrup topping sounds good. We always have the "real" maple syrup on hand too. What are the amounts.

I used chopped onion, minced garlic or garlic powder, fine bread crumbs, and cracked black pepper. I then add tomato sauce on top, mixed with oregano/thyme mix.

I use a recipe in an Anne Lindsay cookbook called Old Fashioned Meatloaf. It is lower in fat. It calls for herbs, crumbled whole grain bread and tomato paste.

I don't measure things, & it changes from time to time just for something different. For the most part, I add 1 egg, italian bread crumb, raw chopped onion, green pepper, sprinkle some italain seasonings, a dash od Heinz 57 sauce & put a can of tomato soup on top.
Other way is... 1 pack of onion soup mix, 1 egg, italian bread crumbs. No soup on top, but always with a good gravy.

My hubby hates meatloaf so I never get to make it. I order it in restaurants when I can.
